Could YOU be a volunteer with the Met Police?
06/11/2007
The programme is currently looking to recruit volunteers for the Piccadilly Pavilion in Piccadilly Circus, part of the West End Central Police Division in Westminster.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to make a real difference in the busiest area in Europe with over half a million people passing through the vicinity every day.
This will give you an excellent insight into the world of policing and helps get Police Officers back on the streets. You may have had a fulfilling career elsewhere and might now be seeking to put your experience and skills to good use.
Volunteers joining the programme will receive reimbursement of appropriate expenses and training including Health & Safety; Communication, Diversity and Conflict Management; CCTV & Radio Training.
You will also receive guidance and support, with group meetings and events held throughout the year where you will have the opportunity to meet other volunteers, share best practice and discuss experiences.
All prospective volunteers are security vetted and must provide two satisfactory professional references and will also be expected to sign The Official Secrets’ Act 1911 – 1989.
To be eligible for the Met Volunteer Programme you must be over 18 and have at least the last three years' UK residency, running concurrently.
They are looking to place volunteers between 7am - 7pm, seven days a week. It will be non-uniformed and they ask that volunteers give their time in four-hour stints, although the programme is flexible.
