Who is looking after the children?

An article appeared in the Scotsman on August 31st, with the alarming report about deaths caused by drugs. It seem that fatalities in children from drug abuse has leapt up by 37% - with at least one death every day in Scotland.

My question is what is happening to the forgotten children who suffer - while there is an army of grandparents willing and able to be mobilized to protect them from such terrible harm? Grandparents are very concerned by these figures. We at the Grandparents Apart Self-Help Group are urging Mr MacAskill to look very closely at the role of grandparents in the early detection and protection of our children in these circumstances.

We believe that there is a gap in their protection that only grandparents can only fill because of their unique relationship with their grandchildren.
