Put on your dancing shoes for Help The Aged
28/06/2007
Help the Aged is asking our readers to put their best foot forward and host a Tea Dance for the Charity. The new fundraising event, which takes place in the summer months, will see people across the UK organising their own Tea Dance to raise vital funds for the Charity to help disadvantaged older people avoid the misery of poverty, isolation and neglect.
The Tea Dance aims to get readers hosting their own dancing event which is easy and fun to do and offers a traditional get together on a summer’s afternoon. Whether it is dancing to the waltz or the tango, or simply listening to some old time classics, the Tea Dance is an enjoyable way of bringing friends and family together over afternoon tea.
Dancer, Entertainer and Help the Aged supporter, Lionel Blair said: “I am absolutely delighted to be supporting the Help the Aged Tea Dance. There’s nothing that lifts the spirits more than an afternoon of music and dancing for those of us still young at heart. I think it’s such a lovely idea, so please, dust off your dancing shoes, get practising your waltz and host a Tea Dance – you really will be helping to make a difference to disadvantaged older people.”
Help the Aged is asking people to make a donation to attend a Tea Dance with all money raised from the event going towards the Charity, including its SeniorMobility Service which provides minibuses, cars and mobility scooters to groups and projects, ensuring older people are able to get out and about and stay active.
