Dance in worship
01/05/2007
Your article "Circle dancing gives a new spin on life" (MT, April 2007) reported on a type of dance where people hold hands & dance in a circle, which is easier than line dancing.
I take part in a lovely local "Dance in Worship" group, at the URC Church, Chapel Rd. Hounslow, Middlesex, on the first Saturday of each month, from 10am to noon. It's just 10 minutes walk from Hounslow Central station, and we dance to gentle praise and music - and there's no need to be very fit.
People can sit out and just listen, or raise their arms to the music. After the success of "Strictly Come Dancing", dance has become more popular with all age groups. It's good exercise and many people find dance more enjoyable than sport.
