Townswomen’s Guilds is backing the future of Britain’s post offices by joining a national coalition whose aim is to raise the profile of the Government consultation on the future of our Post Offices.
Pamela Pollock, National Chairman of Townswomen’s Guilds, said: “Post Offices are a lifeline for many social groups in society, particularly for the elderly providing vital services for those who struggle to get into towns and cities.
“It is disappointing that the Government has failed to recognise the social benefits linked to post offices with many elderly people using it for contact with their families and indeed often just for human interaction. We therefore urge readers to join Townswomen’s Guilds’ campaign to stop these senseless closures."
The coalition consists of Age Concern, Citizens Advice, Countryside Alliance, Communications Workers Union, Local Works, National Federation of Sub Postmasters, National Pensioners Convention and the Royal National Institute of the Blind.
