ID cards WON'T solve our problems

Your article on ID cards hits a hot nerve with myself and a lot of other people disagreeing with them.
I for one don't like the idea of all my personal information being put into a chip on a card for everyone to read whenever I am asked to produce it for some reason or other.
As for the people trafficking, it will not stop those who are doing it, now, or in the future. They will still charge people thousands of pounds to enter the UK as illegal immigrants and not worry at all once they have had their money from people in some other part of Europe.
More and better policing at sea ports airports and the channel rail is the answer, in those countries from where they try to get to the UK.
