Feel creative? Then get writing!
17/12/2006
Is there a budding novelist, poet or journalist within you, bursting to get out? If so, then we may be able to help. During 2007 Mature Times' editor Tony Watts will be running two specialist creative writing weekends in conjunction with Warner Breaks.
Yes, you can write beautifully from a cold garret, but it's so much nicer from a cosy castle with lovely food, expert tutoring in a friendly environment!
Tony (that's him looking suitably creative below) has been writing for a living - as a journalist and copywriter - for well over 30 years, and before that studied English, so his approach is to learn to write for a purpose - whether that is to enlighten, educate or entertain.
He'll introduce some fundamental principles of good writing, and then set you projects, covering a range of writing from press releases, radio advertising and speeches through to short stories and poems.
At the end of the weekend, there's even the chance to have your piece published in the on-line edition of The Mature Times.
You won't be burning too much midnight oil on the breaks, as you can take part in a wide range of other activities - as can a "non-writing partner" enjoy all this plus superb meals, accommodation, evening entertainment, and a variety of sports and leisure facilities.
The dates are:
Bodelwyddan Castle
27th April 2007
Holme Lacy House
1st June 2007
