Disabled? Get a break with Vitalise
24/11/2006
National disability charity Vitalise has launched a new programme of breaks for disabled people and carers.
The accessible Centres, which are based in Cornwall, Essex, Nottingham, Southampton and Southport, are open from February to December, providing an extensive range of short breaks for disabled people in a holiday setting.
Each Centre offers 24-hour care-on-call and personal support from staff and volunteers, as well as pre-arranged trips, activities and on-site entertainment. There is something going on every day at the Centres and guests can choose to join in the outings and entertainment, or simply use the Centre as a base to relax or to explore the local area as they wish.
Vitalise provides over 8,000 breaks for disabled adults, children and carers every year. Each Vitalise Centre offers guests a choice of subsidised short breaks, with 24-hour care-on-call and personal support in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Guests can choose from a range of themed weeks, where the break is specially tailored to an interest or hobby, such as cricket, wildlife, nightclubbing, shopping or crafts. Other themed weeks are centred round regional interest and culture, holistic treatments or are adapted to suit different age groups, e.g. Youth Week.
All the Centres are open over Easter, Christmas and the New Year, with fitting celebrations laid on.
Details of the five Centres and self catering lodges, facilities and prices are all included in the 2007-2008 brochure, which is available from the Vitalise bookings office on 0845 345 1970 or can be downloaded from the link below.
