Girlings

Girlings Retirement Options Ltd, which deals exclusively with the 55+ market, is the acknowledged leader with an impeccable track record in the retirement rental market. Started in 1990, Girlings has a comprehensive database of over 10,000 properties in the UK in more than 700 retirement housing developments. They let and manage some 2000 properties throughout England, Wales and Scotland as well as overseas near Malaga in Southern Spain.
Most of the properties are predominantly one bedroom apartments but there are also some two bedroom properties, studios, and a small number of bungalows and cottages - all on purpose built retirement developments.
Girlings key mission is security in retirement and peace of mind. Because of its partnership with Norwich Union, Girlings is able to let most properties on Assured Tenancies. This means that tenants can enjoy their home secure in the knowledge that they can stay in their residence for as long as they wish.
Girlings has pioneered the way forward in letting in the private retirement sector and has many hundreds of satisfied tenants and landlords who can recommend them and their professional service.
About Girlings
Peter Girling is the company's CEO. "We launched Girlings in the early 1990s because I realised that there was a huge gap in the property market. Even though there was then a deep recession, the demand for retirement property was growing, with purchasers being unable to buy new property without releasing equity from their homes.
"And there was the additional problem of the increasing number of unoccupied retirement properties, where owners had died or moved to nursing homes, and families were having difficulty in both selling and servicing the outgoings. So, with a surplus of empty accommodation and a thriving demand for occupation, the concept of renting in retirement was born. If the retired could rent, then the second hand market would pick up, and ultimately so would the market for new properties.

Girlings Rental Services
Girlings aim to match every tenant with the most suitable property based upon their means and requirements. Once you have informed them of your requirements they will keep you updated with suitable properties as they become available.
The rental prices are inclusive of the service charge and ground rent, which covers the cost of the House Manager, the use of the communal lounge, gardens and laundry room (in most developments), external window cleaning and the upkeep, cleaning and insurance of the building. The rent also covers most maintenance issues within the apartment.
Girlings dedicated team are on hand to guide you through the rental process and assist you throughout your tenancy.
