Kick start your New Year exercise routine by signing up for a 2012 charity challenge with Christian Aid. Whether you like running, cycling or trekking, we have an event to suit keep fit enthusiasts of all levels
Christian Aid offers the opportunity to take part in a mixture of well established high profile events such as the Brighton and Edinburgh marathons and the London to Paris bike ride, or more bespoke Christian Aid events such as the Hadrian’s Wall Trek.
Christian Aid’s portfolio of 11 running, cycling and trekking events all raise money for the charity’s work with poor communities around the world. A minimum sponsorship target it is set for each event and participants will receive a training plan, nutritional advice, lots of moral support and a fundraising pack full of ideas. Below are listed some of the events on offer:
Brighton Marathon, 15 April 2012
This challenging course starts in the stunning Preston Park and finishes with a final stretch along the seafront, ending east of the famous Brighton Pier. Registration is £50, and participants have to raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship.
Edinburgh Marathon, 27 May 2012
Join us in Edinburgh in May 2012 and you will be sampling one of the most picturesque marathon routes, complete with coastline and castles. And, with the course’s overall drop of 150ft, this is a great run for keen runners looking to set a new personal best. Registration is £50 and participants need to raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship.
London to Paris bike ride 18-22 July 2012
A 300-mile cycle through beautiful and historic countryside with one of the most picturesque finishing straights in the world. And you’ll arrive in Paris just in time to see the end of the Tour de France. It costs £99 to register, and participants will need to raise a minimum of £1,300 in sponsorship.
Hadrian’s Wall Weekend Trek, 29 June – 1 July 2012.
Join us in July 2012 for a trekking challenge through scenic and historic countryside that lines this UNESCO world heritage site. The two-day trek starts at Lanercost Priory in Cumbria and runs 25 miles along the only remaining sections of the wall.
