Bus pass pleasures

Bus pass pleasures

I am writing in response to your article in the February edition of the paper entitled ‘Big society has failed local communities’. My husband and I – now in our late 70s and early 80s -no longer drive and find our bus passes an absolute lifeline. We use them at least four times each week to go grocery shopping and to visit our city centre where we attend a reading group, a singing group, the cinema and our museum. If many local communities are as you describe in your lead article, then we are indeed fortunate to live in this lovely cathedral city. Our very good local bus service means that there are so many opportunities within easy reach. Without our bus passes our outings would be severely curtailed and so long may they continue!
